Spotted – UFO!

It’s going to be sewing machines ablazin’ tomorrow at What’s Your Stitch ‘n Stuff – that is if you can hear the machines over the laughter. There are a few spaces waiting just for you – to enjoy a wonderful lunch made by an amazing “Iron Chef” – and all around Master Quilter – Lisa Burgess. The WTF for August is tomorrow, Saturday, August 18 and the fun starts at 12 noon continuing with a half days worth of happy quilting (you can leave a few minutes early if you really turn into a pumpkin at Midnight)! And if quilting a half day is more than you might have time for this weekend, you need to mark your calendars for Wednesday, August 22 at 6:30 p.m. to start your holiday decorations early!

Abby Geddes is our Master Wool Applique teacher. This is her own design – a Christmas Bells Tablerunner. The detail is fabulous and what a great gift for family and friends that can be customized with wool colors to any decor. And speaking of tablerunners…

…we know you love the 10 Minute Tablerunner kits. And Bobbi and Erin and the other lovely associates we have here have been kitting up some terrific kits for Halloween and Christmas. Doesn’t the Christmas Cardinals and Black and Gold Snowflakes look lucious!

Many of you have asked about another class – the "Let's Make A Jacket" class. Well, there are only a few spaces left for this class taught by Joan Bryan. It's a 2 session class, meaning your first class is on Wednesday, September 5 and then again on Wednesday, September 26 – both classes start at 6:30 p.m. and end at 9 p.m. Why the weeks between classes? Joan is a true apparel sewing genius and you will learn so much about how to take a pattern and alter that pattern to fit your own body (no one size fits all here). When you are finished, not only will you love the jacket you make for yourself, and just in time for fall weather, you will have the skills to be able to take that same pattern and adjust it to make jackets for your children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Now, if your thinking, "Well, I have a sewing machine and it's in the box still and I don't know how to use it?" We have just the answer for you. The next class schedule is October, November and December 2013 and we are excited to announce that we will be offering a Beginning Sewing class! We have loved having fabric lovers come in and look around the shop, only to tell us they don't know how to wind the bobbin on their machine. You will get the chance to learn just that next quarter – stay tuned!

If you know how to use your machine already, then you are ready for the Baby Steps Quilting Class that starts Monday, August 27 and continues the next two Monday's, September 3 & 10th. The classes begin at 7 p.m. and we can tell you that you will definately understand how to cut accurately and sew the perfect quarter inch to make a wonderful 9-patch tablerunner (which you can use holiday fabric to make). And speaking of fabric.

WOW – have you told us you are loving the KONA Solids in the shop. If you haven’t stopped in to check this fabric out, you may want to soon. And while you are looking peek inside two books – one called “We Love Color” by Robert Kaufman featuring the works of a number of top-notch quilters across the U.S. that used Kona Solids to complete their quilts. Among them – Angela Walters – who has enjoyed some vacation time and traveling to several teaching engagements, but will be back as a featured blogger this coming Monday.

So – stop by the shop, listen to the laughter, look at the UFO’s in the works, check out the new fabric and kits and as always, bring in your CEO (Completely Executed Objects) because we LOVE show and tell.

Happy and Safe Weekend!
