Room with a view!

My husband and I spent several lovely days in Washington, DC.  Being total tourists, white tennis shoes and all!

We stayed at a great hotel, next to the White House.  Here was the view from our window.

We could lay in bed and see the Washington Monument!

We took a tour of the Capitol.

Walked through the Library of Congress.

Saw the new Martin Luther King Jr. monument.

We also saw the National Art Gallery, the American History Museum, the Natural History Museum and the National Zoo.  We spent a lot of time walking!

On the way home we spent the afternoon at the National Museum of the Marine Corps.

All that great traveling means I spent no time at my sewing machine, but I did get a bunch of handwork done in the car.  I finished a couple of more blocks in my Primitive  Garden quilt.

Now we are home, and our guests start arriving tomorrow for my husband’s Navy retirement ceremony on Saturday.

So, back to my room with a view…

Later, Sandra

  1. I have been wanting to go to the Marine Corps’ Museum – was it worth it?

    • Hi Carol, It was so worth it! The museum is nice and new and has a ton of stuff. We spent about 4 hours, and could have easily spent another 4. It is really well done, and we’re not even Marines…

  2. Happy Navy Retirement! We are in Chesapeake for 2.5 years until my hubby retires from the Navy. We found your fabric shop today & love it.
