“Iron Quilter’s” Challenge – Monday, April 23 @ 11 a.m.

Yes, it’s official…

Quilt Ninja Jackie O’Brien (left in photos above) and Quilt Queen Lisa Burgess are really going to see who can sew up the best pillowcase in the quickest amount of time this coming Monday, April 23. The fun starts at 11 a.m. You can bring your sewing machine along or use one we have here at the shop and try your hand at making a pillowcase, too. We will have kits on sale and we know the Ninja will be sticking around to help you learn how to make the perfect pillowcase before you leave.

While you are here you might consider signing up for the May or August Retreat. The May Retreat theme is “A Garden Party” and starts Friday, May 4 and continues through Sunday, May 6. Then in August…

…we’ll cheer on our U.S.A. Summer Olympic Team and have our own “Gold Medal Weekend” of quilting beginning Friday, August 3 through Sunday, August 5.  There are only a few spaces left in May so you might not want to wait to get your spot confirmed.

Since you are marking these dates on your calendar, you might want to include a few more events happening in the area. The Tidewater Quilt Guild is having their “Quilts for All Seasons” 2012 Quilt Show at the Khedive Temple in Chesapeake the weekend of June 22 – 24. If you click this link –  http://www.tqgva.org/quilt_show.html – it will take you to the TQG website.

There is a new Modern Quilt Guild of Virginia Beach starting. They have their first meeting schedule for Saturday, April 28 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Princess Anne Public Library, 1444 Nimmo Parkway in Virginia Beach. The group has a Facebook page you can check out.

Starting next week you can come by the shop and use the many professional Accu-Quilt Dies we have in stock. The fee is $10 an hour with an hour minimum. You will need to sign a waiver saying you hold yourself accountable if you cut yourself while using the machine (smile)!

It’s going to be another full Saturday with quilter’s enjoying the “WTF” (What the Food) with the Quilting Queen hostess herself, Lisa Burgess. So stop by the shop, say hello, see what projects others are working on and remember – we love show and tell.

Happy Weekend!
