Irene, Irene, Irene…

How are you all fairing through Irene?  Difficult here to find any specific news about the Virginia Beach area.  There has been very little on the news about those places between North Carolina and New York.  I am hoping that ‘no news is good news’.  A bit ago we finally made a few calls to the area to see what we could find out.  Some friends with power, some without and it appears that the eye of the storm is soon approaching.  Lots of wind and lots of rain.

I hope you are all ‘hunkering’ down and surviving Hurricane Irene.  Maybe we should have a party after this is all over…

This years “Opportunity Quilt”

For the last several years we have had an opportunity quilt donated to the shop, to use as a fundraiser for a cause.

This is the quilt for this year!  It was pieced and donated by Jerri C. and machine quilted by Susan Secosky.  The quilt measures 65″ x 75″, and it is so beautiful in person!  The drawing for the quilt will be November 1, 2011.  This years proceeds will benefit the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce Oahe Flood Relief Fund.  (Trying saying that three times fast…).  This project is to help Holly’s town, that has been dealing with flooding since the end of May!  Let’s show our support for our shop owner, as well as have a chance to win a great quilt!

More details on how you might win are available in the shop.  This could be your lucky day!

In other news…a friend and I went to a big primitive shop today for their semi annual sale.  Of course, we were rookies and didn’t know what we were getting in to.  Our first clue was there were two guys directing traffic and parking.  Then we came to the line…

I snapped a couple of pictures on my phone, crazy!  If you look close you can see customers with rubbermaid bins!

Crazy, crazy, crazy!

It was amazing how long we will wait in line to pay at a good sale. I did find a few treasures, so that was fun!

One of our guild members is a sister to the shop owner.  My friend and I volunteered to work at the sale next time!  I just love participating in that craziness!

I guess this says it all!

Be safe!  Sandra
