Fiber and Thread Picnic

Our quilt guild hosted the first annual fiber and thread picnic last night.   Instead of having our usual summer potluck picnic at the church we moved to a city park and invited all of the area guilds to participate.

Next we hung clotheslines throughout the park and had everyone attending bring quilts to hang and share.

Little quilts…

and big quilts…

and one of each.

wool quilts,

and beautiful smocking,

and incredible embroidery.

Of course, no Blacksburg event would be complete without a Hokie bird barn quilt!

If your quilt guild needs some fun and excitement, try hosting a picnic and inviting all of the other creative people in your area.  It could be a lot of fun!

  1. Did you possibly find out the pattern name for that wool quilt with the house and fence? Fabulous!

    • Hi Kathie,
I’m working on it! I’ll see if I can track it down.

  2. Wow – what about the pattern for the hokie bird quilt. I have a friend i would love to make that for.

    • The Hokie bird is actually a wooden sign, painted to put on a barn…Pretty cool, huh!
