Love those little nine patches!

Jennifer Warrens Hens and Chicks from Nine Patch Gatherings

Jennifer W. brought this cuteeeee little quilt into the shop.  It is called Hens and Chicks.  The “large” nine patch blocks are three inch finished and the “small” are 1 1/2″ finished!  Her quilt is made from Nancy Halverson fabric for Art to Heart, her favorite!

The pattern is in the latest book by Primitive Gatherings,  Nine-Patch Gatherings $20.

Sue G. made a ton of little nine patch blocks this weekend at Sew-A-Thon, she is making  a little quilt from this book too.

I just got around to quilting my quilt from this book.  It is called  Peony Wreath I believe. It uses 1 1/2″ finished nine patches.

Yes, the binding is not quite finished, but about halfway done…Hopefully tonight will be a quiet night and I can get it done.

Here is a close up shot of the quilting, it is quilted to death, very tiny.  The wreath is out of hand dyed wools, and almost looks sunken in the picture, but actually  it is raised nicely from the background.

The book uses a great method for making small nine patches.  Using two five inch squares, a light and a dark, you get two three inch finished nine patch blocks!  An easy method, using squares not strips.

The shop has also made light and dark charm packs (for both size blocks) to get you started on the fun!

Later all, Sandra
