Antique Buttermold Block of the Month

Here at the shop we have begun a new block of the month!  This one has cotton backgrounds with hand dyed wool appliques.  Wools are so easy and fast to applique with, no turning, no fraying, they are just soooooo friendly.  Here is the pattern, It is from The Woolen Needle.  The quilt will finish at 57″ square.

Kathie R. is making our sample, and she is doing a beautiful job!  You really have to see them in person to appreciate how nice they are!

month 1

month 2

This is a ten month long program, which includes all the cottons, the hand dyed wools and the pattern.  The cost is $25 a month.  The pattern can also be purchased separately for $12.25, if you would like to make it from your own fabrics.  Today our quilt guild had a day long retreat, called “quilting the blues away”.  Great title since we had sleet, then rain then sun then snow then back to rain…Perhaps we are not done with winter yet.

At the retreat I worked on a lot of little blocks and I got another  Pitty Pat block done!

Later all, Sandra
