Tasty Travels – Indonesia

Lisa B and those world travelers took off for a little dose of “island living” on this leg of the International Mystery Trip. You could almost feel those island breezes wafting through the shop. Lisa made a wonderful sweet & sour chicken with island punch for lunch. The quilt this month was Beach Huts; with color choices of Happy Cabana – reds, oranges, & yellows, Sea Turtle – blues & greens, and Surf & Sand – blues & tans.

There is finally a new hint posted on the Heidi-Idy’s Hints page. Things at the shop continue to be busy, busy, busy. We have our Customer Appreciation Night coming up September 1st. Fall Open House is on Saturday, September 12th from 1-4pm. There are lots of classes on the fall schedule and it will be posted online soon. (If that slacker, Sue G gets moving  ).

Be sure to check back and see where the travelers head next.

Quilt Odyssey

I’m sitting in my lovely hotel room at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey, PA, taking a break before heading to the Show & Tell tonight for Quilt Odyssey. The show has been fabulous!! The quilts are gorgeous; I’ll post a few pictures of the overall show, but the quilts are not allowed to be put on the web without the maker’s permission. There is a curated antique exhibit that is beautiful. The Lodge is all things chocolate, duh… it’s Hershey. The food has been wonderful, we haven’t had a bad meal, the coffee is great (great big plus for me). The merchants mall is great, some vendors that we don’t get at Mid-Atlantic so that is nice.

Stephen & I went to the Hershey Gardens this morning. They have more than 7000 roses, a Japanese garden with some ginormous koi in the pond, tons of annuals and a fabulous butterfly house. The butterfly house was amazing. You just walk around with the butterflies flitting all over the place. There were many we had never seen in person, it was just awesome.

I ran into a couple of Virginia Beachers: Barbara Stephens and Suzi Bedford. I’m sure there are others here, the show has lots and lots of people visiting it and taking classes.

Enjoy the photos and I’ll see you next week at the shop or here in blogland.

Tasty Travels – Germany

Those travel junkies and their tour guide “Helga” spent a rousing Saturday in Germany. The quilt pattern for this month is the Braid with color choices of: Octoberfest — fall colors; Red Baron — reds; Haus Frau — pastels. The photo of Lisa’s Braid quilt is in the International Mystery Gallery. Lisa served a wonderful Leek and Potato Soup and I believe I heard something about German Beer?????

Santa’s Visit

Elf in training, Sue G, has been extra busy this month so…the photos from Christmas in July are just now being posted. Santa took time out from his beach vacation to visit us and sing (beautifully) some songs. There was some dancing, bell jingling, ho, ho, ho-ing, and some very happy children (both young and old (er)! Holly and Heidi-Idy provided a lovely breakfast and a good time was had by all.

Enjoy the photos and see you at the shop or here in blogland.

Tasty Travels – France

Bon soir mes amis, travel artiste extraordinaire, Lisa, and the girls took a lovely sojourn to France recently. The quilt for this month is the Rose of Picardy; the colorways are French Kiss – pinks & purples, The Sun King – yellows, oranges, & reds, and Versailles – florals. Another quilt with many different fabrics and it should be gorgeous when finished. Sparkling cider and creme puffs were on the menu for this trip.

Christmas in July

It might be in the 80’s in Virginia Beach, but it’s Christmas at What’s Your Stitch ‘n Stuff! Our annual Christmas in July Event starts tomorrow and runs through Sunday, July 12th. We will have all kinds of new kits, patterns, books and models for you to check out at the shop. Our theme this year is “Gifts for Christmas”, not necessarily Christmas fabrics or patterns, (though we have plenty of those too).

You’re all invited to Breakfast with Santa, Saturday, July 11th 10am-Noon. This is the “Real” Santa; he’ll be dressed for the beach, as he is on vacation in Virginia Beach and graciously agreed to come for breakfast and sing some Christmas Carols for us. You don’t want to miss him. Check out the link in the sidebar to Santa’s website.

See you at the shop or here in blogland.

Cathy P. Update

I have been remiss in posting the photos from Cathy Porter’s farewell party; I thought I’d accidently deleted the photos from my camera, searched the files on the shop computer and my home computer and couldn’t find them. Light bulb moment, the photos were on Holly’s camera, big duh

Cathy stopped by the shop weekend before last for a visit and to update us on the goings on in her life. She was actually taking a beading class at the new bead shop next door. She is loving her new job! We miss her here at the shop, but are glad she’s enjoying her new job.

Without further ado, here are a couple of photos of Cathy from the party.

Yum, cake!

Saying Goodbye

It is always hard to say goodbye; when you live in a military area it seems that happens all too frequently. This Friday we will be saying farewell to Sandra and her family as they transfer to Blacksburg, VA. Sandra has been a great asset to the shop, a terrific friend and we will miss her. We have prevailed upon her to visit often and to continue to make samples for us. [We do make it hard to get away from us completely!! ].  We wish them all the best in their new adventure.

We will be having a get together at the shop on Friday, June 5th between 10 and 3, so if you can, stop in and say your goodbyes. We will have munchies, cake and of course, a quilt to sign.

Fair Winds and Following Seas…
