Pay tribute to those who serve by giving of yourself. There is always need; volunteer at a Veteran’s hospital, make a contribution to any of the Military Relief Societies, the USO, or your local Quilts of Valor group.

Ciao amici, those globetrotting quilters made a stop in Italy and the aroma in the shop was fantastic. Chef Mario Burgess made a fabulous Pizza Blanca with mozzarella, romano, parmesan, artichoke hearts, …and it tasted even better than it smelled. Making the perfect pizza wasn’t enough for our own Iron Chef; she also brought a ginormous 28″ in diameter pizza with the best Italian sausage ever on it. I know, enough about the food — on to the quilting.  The quilt this month is the “Italian Meatball” with colorways; cappuccino — browns & tans, Lasagna — reds, and Spumoni — pastels. It is also Breast Cancer Awareness month and Lisa had gifts to remind everyone to get their Mammograms!!

It is October 12^th and I decided I need to make a plan in order to get my Christmas projects finished. I should say started and finished ! I currently don’t have any large projects planned, which is a good thing since time is growing short. Only 73 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS, YIKES!

I have my project for the fabulous Annual Employees Christmas Party to make, and a few small things for the grandkids. I need to line them up, put them in order and get working. The Christmas Party project will take the longest so…that one is first up.  I’ll try to keep you updated on my progress.

What about you? Do you have more projects than time? We have some great quick projects at the shop, and a few classes that are designed to make those last minute gifts for a co-worker, neighbor, teacher, or secret pal. Stop by the shop or check out the class schedule online.

We got in a great looking line from Moda last week, Evening Mist, by Sentimental Studios. It’s taupes, grays, & gray-greens. We also got in Jo Morton’s Stafford County, a reproductions line. Eight pieces of Laurel Burch’s Jungle Soul Flannel, it’s luscious. We already cut strip quilt kits out of it, so…less work for you. The fabrics are going to just keep coming, so make sure you stop by the shop or check out the What’s New Page on our website. (Click Heidi in the Sidebar to go to the website).

I posted a new hint, check it out. The International Quilt Market was this past week; we will be getting new books, patterns, & notions that were debuted there.

Those traveling colleens took a wee trip to “The Emerald Isle” recently. Tour guide, Lisa, planned a lovely day, including a gorgeous Beef and Guinness Stew, it smelled and tasted so great you could actually see those rolling green hills. The quilt this month was…wait for it…Irish Chain; with colorways of Bonnie Lassie — pastels, Shamrock — greens, and Pot of Gold — golds & yellows. Everyone also received their own Lucky Charms!

Jackie O’Brien’s  Quilt, “In The Shadow of the Mill, Footsteps In Time”,  was awarded Best of Show, Best Original Design, & 1st place Team Small pieced quilt (for the piecing & quilting) at the Mohawk Valley Quilt Club Quilt Show in Utica, New York. The quilt was quilted by Susanne Secosky of Quilted Memories. Jackie also had another quilt entered, “Crazy Quilted Family Memories”,  which placed 2nd in the Appliqué category. You go Jackie !!!

Thank you to all who attended our 6th Annual Customer Appreciation Event. This year we had a Bazaar instead of our usual auction. It was time to change things up just a bit and I think everyone had a great time. We had 30 gorgeous baskets that were given away to lucky winners, a great WYSNS tote bag for shopping at your fav quilt shop was given to each attendee, door prizes, and then there were the games. We played topple the spools, pin the block on the quilt, Quilter want a Quacker, and ring toss. For eats we had peanuts, popcorn, sno-cones, little bundt cakes, cheese straws, and the ever popular creme puffs. Here are some photos from the Bazaar.

Our Fall Open House was this past Saturday. Thank you to all the teachers who took time out of their busy schedules to come show the models for their classes and take questions from interested quilters. There are lots of classes on the Fall schedule, something for everyone whether you’re a beginner or an accomplished quilter; quilts, tote bags, 2 different jackets, a large Halloween bear by Connie Hindmarsh, table runners & toppers, locker hooking, machine and hand quilting, intro to wool, thread work, stained glass, scrap therapy….you name it & we probably have it!!
